Recently, our Texas Team participated in a charity Tough Mudder to benefit Ten by Three, raising over $10,000 with the help of our sponsors. 36 employees from our Texas region joined forces to compete in the challenge. Some chose the three-mile course, while others went all in on the 10-mile course, with 13 and 25 obstacles, respectively. Ten by Three placed 100% of the money directly into the hands of 279 women in two developing nations. Those women are using the funds to help fund the three businesses Ten by Three requires them to start.
Ten by Three is an organization that seeks to end poverty in developing countries using a financial model that allows artisans to earn significantly higher than fair trade wages for their handcrafted products. With the $10,000 raised, Ten by Three purchases artisan products in that amount from artists in developing countries, and then sells them in the U.S. The profits from selling those items then goes back to help fund the organization’s work and purchase the next round of products. That means that $10,000 worth of artisan baskets purchased from the Tough Mudder funds can mean over $40,000 for Ten by Three and the artisans they serve.
When it comes to LAZ and our incredible family of over 14,000 people across the country, we often say, “It’s not what we do, it’s how we do it,” that makes the difference. Together LAZ Parking and Ten by Three are ending poverty around the world!
